Hershey’s chocolate syrup is vegan. It is essentially chocolate-flavored high fructose corn syrup. It is gooey and thick, making it perfect for making buttercream frosting. Hershey’s chocolate is perfect for vegan buttercream frosting.
Chocolate syrup is better than cocoa powder for making frosting. In my opinion the texture blends so much better. It adds to the thickness of Vegan Chocolate Frosting Recipe as well.
This buttercream frosting has no butter.
All you need for Vegan Chocolate Frosting Recipe is 3 cups powdered sugar, 1 cup chocolate syrup, 1 tsp vanilla syrup, and 2 cups vegetable shortening. Crisco has vegetable shortening next to the regular kind.
In a large mixing bowl combine Hershey’s chocolate syrup, vanilla extract and powdered sugar. Then use a hand held electric mixer to blend. Start on LOW until sugar is completely dissolved. (This is to avoid powdered sugar explosion!) Your chocolate buttercream frosting is almost done.
Then add vegetable shortening to the mixture. Blend on medium then high until chocolate buttercream frosting texture is very fluffy. It’s vegan chocolate frosting no butter.
Sometimes I have to use a large spoon to scrap up chocolate/powdered sugar from the bottom of the bowl. Then blend one more time until thick and fluffy.
