All you need to make this DIY recipe is 1 cup of old fashioned quick oats, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, and 3 cups water. Cocoa powder helps create the best healthy chocolate flavor.
I also like to add a tsp of vanilla extract for flavor. You will also need a blender or food processor and some type of strainer.
To strain the oats from the liquid it’s preferable to have a sieve, cheesecloth, or nut milk bag. Keep the left over oats for making oatmeal or baby food.
The proper instructions for making chocolate oat milk are to soak the quick oats in water for 1 hour at room temperature. Then put the oatmeal and cocoa powder in a blender or food processor.
Blend until thoroughly combined. The next step is to strain the oats from the liquid, preferably through a cheese cloth or sieve. Add the vanilla extract to the oat milk for flavor.
Next add the remaining 2 cups of water and shake it up! For added sweetener try 1 tsp stevia or 2 tbsp agave.
This plant based milk is a raw vegan recipe.
